West Midlands’ RS Recovery has recently invested in a range of Totalkare equipment as part of a multi-bay workshop refit project that will significantly enhance their fleet repair and maintenance operations.
The large-scale project has seen Totalkare install two vehicle inspection pits with adjoining tunnel, in-ground brake testers and shaker plates, a 10-metre, 35,000kg Y-MECH lift, a set of eight T8DC mobile column lifts, headlamp tester, oil hose reel dispensers and more. This substantial investment highlights RS Recovery’s commitment to customer service and ensuring that they are up to date with the latest safety improvements and compliance in the industry.
The purchase of two vehicle inspection pits will significantly improve RS Recovery’s inspection and repair capabilities, allowing their skilled technicians to work efficiently underneath vehicles, ensuring thorough inspections and facilitating more complex repair tasks. Totalkare’s vehicle inspection pits are pre-fabricated to order in the West Midlands in lengths to suit workshop requirements, from 6 metres upwards. The pits feature fully braced external walls of 5mm thick welded recessed steel pressing, with a 6mm thick pressed durbar floor which is sloped slightly towards a central sump for effective drainage.
The Y-MECH Lift, designed for heavy-duty vehicle maintenance, boasts advanced features such as synchronised lifting and lowering, providing increased productivity and safety. Available in platform lengths from 6-13 metres and a range of lifting capacities from 25,000 – 35,000kg, the Y-MECH provides optimal working space around the lift for the maintenance and repair of heavy-duty vehicles. RS Recovery’s Y-MECH is recess-mounted to minimise trip hazards when not in use, features mechanical safety latches and rollover/roll back protection to guarantee maximum safety while the vehicle is in a raised position.
A popular fixture in many workshops nationwide, Totalkare’s market-leading T8DC mobile column lifts are a versatile and reliable fixture in RS Recovery’s new-look facility. With a lifting capacity of up to 7,500kg per column, and with eight columns lifting in unison, the T8DC can handle even the heaviest four-axle vehicles in RS Recovery’s fleet. Charging is simple with the T8DC requiring only a 230V wall socket, while its adjustable forks for different wheel diameters.
Totalkare’s TK70 in-ground brake tester is DVSA-approved and is built to meet the toughest of workshop requirements. Totalkare’s in-ground brake tester has one of the strongest designs on the market and is built to withstand a high level of vehicle throughput. The brake tester comes with a PC, printer, monitor, cabinet, and tablet device as standard. Enabling brake tests to be conducted from the driver’s seat in a matter of minutes. RS Recovery will now be able to ensure that all vehicles leaving their facility are equipped with brakes that meet the highest safety standards.
Leonard Perry, Recovery Manager at RS Recovery said, “We are happy to be adding Totalkare’s equipment to our workshop. This investment will greatly enhance our ability to serve our clients, ensuring that we provide the best service in the roadside assistance and vehicle recovery industry.”
James Atkins, Area Sales Manager for Totalkare added, “We are pleased to be RS Recovery’s trusted choice for workshop equipment solutions. Our equipment is designed to enhance safety and productivity in workshops, and we’re confident that it will greatly benefit RS Recovery’s operations.”
